Dad’s Obituary

Robert Phillip Whitehead, 62, passed away on January 20, 2013 in Orem, UT of pneumonia. Robert was born on September 14, 1950 to Earnest L. and Verda M. (Cooke) Whitehead in Provo, UT.  He married Susan Ellis and had a daughter, Jamie. They later divorced. He married Elizabeth Johnston on October 7, 1983 and after adopting her son Calvin, was sealed to them in the Jordan River temple on October 9, 1984. Their daughter Ashlee was born four months later.

Robert worked professionally as a salesman in print advertising. He was an active member of the LDS Church, who served a full-time mission in West Germany. His most cherished church service was spent sharing his talents as a baritone in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He and Lizzi treasured the missionary experiences they had while touring with the Choir all over the world.

Robert was a gifted pianist and enjoyed serenading his family with his personal favorites like Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata by ear. He also composed and published a beautiful piano solo entitled Galilee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Elizabeth J. Whitehead, and brothers David and Michael. He is survived by his children Calvin (Whitney) Whitehead of Provo, and Ashlee (Corey) Burton of Savoy IL; grandchildren Ada and Talmage (Whitehead), and Jack, Alaster, and Truman (Burton); brothers Armand (Judy), Ray (Pat), Vincent (Corliss), Mark Whitehead; sister-in-law Dee Whitehead; sisters Velma (Richard) Madsen, Karen (Roger) Mullins, Kathy (Gary) Mullins, Colleen (Jim) Rightsell, Debra (Hugh) Hughes.

A visitation will be held January 24 at 11:30 AM with funeral services following at 1:00 PM at the LDS chapel located in Orem, UT at 1000 N. 600 W.
